A Path to Peace: Renew Your Mind
The apostle Paul encouraged us to “Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 2:5). What was that mind? If you follow the life of Jesus, it was evident that he had both a “quiet” mind—a mind that was clear, focused and open to divine leading, and an “engaged” mind—a mind developed through study and conversation and engagement with the world of his time.
Quiet Mind: Be still and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10).
With so much noise in this world, many of us find it difficult to slow down and listen to the inner voice of God that encourages us, challenges us, and helps us imagine something new for our lives and our world. Quieting the mind takes intentionality and commitment over-time.
Engaged Mind: Be transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2).
An engaged mind is a curios mind, an open mind, a mind wiling to be formed and shaped by new insight. For followers of Jesus, the engaged mind delights in learning more about our unique storyline as Christians and also how to live that story more intentionally in our world today.
